About The Artist

Emily earned her BFA at the College of Visual Arts with a focus in Painting and Drawing. Working mostly in mixed media, with an emphasis on acrylic and oil paint, her work is a constant focus on a personal discovery of herself, and facing fears in her life.

My artwork is my way of exploring the topic of fear. Reading my journals, writing new entries, thinking back to the memories that I have endured, I let my art be an expression of that. Focusing on the woman I am right now, in the moment, I think that I have begun to move past parts of the self-doubt. I have begun to learn from the pain, become somebody who learns from experiences, and moves forward with every new step I take in understanding the direction of fear.

At times, I am hoping to actually find the answers, maybe have the words all figured out, underlined for me, so that I can begin to really understand myself. Sometimes, I wonder, and question how can I be afraid of who I am, or what I might become? I find that I really do not know the person I am that well or maybe I actually do, but I am too afraid to admit it. Writing, painting, creating work that I can have for myself is how I approach this time in my life. I will face this head on, directly, no escaping.
